Organizational Chart/Structure

The visual representation of an organizations structure.
Example: Which person is responsible for which function? OR Who is reporting to whom? And who gives authority to whom?

Principles of Chart Design
To make this chart keep the following points in mind:
 As few hierarchical levels as possible
 Chart should show who has authority over whom?
 Chart should show the official line of responsibility and communication.

Example: CEO makes director finance responsible, then director finance to other managers.

Organizational Structure
Interaction and coordination by management to link tasks of individuals and groups in achieving organizational goal.

Four Elements:
 Assignment of task and responsibility to individual or units (Who is doing What)
 Cluster these units and people to form a hierarchy
 Mechanism for vertical coordination
 Mechanism for horizontal coordination
